New Delhi: Tatas-owned Land Rover today said it will roll out a new version of its sports utility vehicle, Defender, in 2015 and the concept of the vehicle will be showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
“The Land Rover Defender Concept 100, a modern interpretation of the iconic Land Rover Defender, will make its debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show,” the British marquee said in a statement. The company also said that “production of a new Defender is intended for 2015″. Commenting on the concept vehicle, Land Rover director of design Gerry McGovern said: “This isn’t a production-ready concept, but the beginning of a four-year journey to design a relevant Defender for the 21st century.” Replacing the Defender is one of the biggest challenges in the automotive design world, he added. ”We plan to engage with existing and potential customers to help us finalise the details of the new vehicle. One thing’s for sure, it’s going to be an exciting journey and we can’t wait to get going,” Land Rover Global Brand Director John Edwards said. |
