Hero's new game by launching cafe racer styled splendor pro classic. The popular Hero Splendor’s new avatar, the Splendor Pro Classic was on display at the Hero pavilion at Auto Expo 2014. The bike gets a rounded headlight and rounded rear-view mirrors. The tail has been given the 60s cafe racer treatment. The company is calling it the 100cc cafe racer. The Pro Classic comes with pretty much all the nuts, bolts and components plucked from Splendor parts bin and hence the similar performance figures. The tried-and-true air-cooled 97.2 cc four-stroker maxes out at 7.7 bhp at 7000 rpm and the max torque of 8.04Nm comes in at 4500 rpm. Gearing is 4-speed constant mesh and the braking is drum both wheels. The bike weighs about 109 kg.
Splendor Pro Classic is homologated as a single seater. It is a fresh attempt by Hero to launch a salvo at the fast growing ‘Cafe Racer’ motorcycle culture. However, one really wishes to know why did Hero chose their least powered bike. A cafe racer should have some power to lug your weight, forget about speeding to cafes!
Nonetheless, according to Hero, they say they want to offer Cafe Racer styling to even the 100cc customers who have limited budgets and this actually is an experiment by the company to promote themselves as a youth-oriented manufacturer. KTM 390 DUKE ABS 2014: ONE FOR ALL -KTM INDIA

KTM 390 ENGINE SPECIFICATIONCHASSIS
SILENCER
The compact, three-chamber silencer is positioned close to the bike's overall center of gravity. This aids the centralization of masses and enhances the playful handling of the 390 Duke 2013. Thanks to a regulated catalytic converter, the emissions are exemplary.
ENGINE
Completely new, the KTM 390 Duke's state-of-the-art, single-cylinder engine once again underlines KTM's development strength. It's clear that the latest materials and production technologies not only deliver the bike's bountiful torque and overwhelming acceleration at all engine speeds, but also good manners in everyday use and outstanding fuel economy. With 375 cc, the single-cylinder engine only weighs 36 kg, thanks to the compact design - typical of KTM - with transmission shafts arranged one above another. Moreover, it delivers a punchy 44 hp with such technical refinements as NaCaSil cylinder coating and forced oil lubrication with performance-boosting casing evacuation (the suction pump not only transfers oil, but also pressure from the crankcase, thereby reducing the running resistance of the crank drive). The highly anticipated KTM 1290 Super Duke R is expected to be unveiled on September 29, following which the launch is most likely to be scheduled at the 2013 EICMA show in Milan, Italy, starting from November 5. Interestingly, the Austrian manufacturer is putting in a lot of efforts in the promotion of its upcoming offering. It has launched a dedicated website of this superbike wherein a countdown metre reflects the time left for the unveiling of KTM 1290. Bike enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for this latest KTM two wheeler since the time prototype was broadcast on the Internet. The company has also released a teaser video of this bike as a part of its pre-launch advertising campaign; however, the pictures of the exact look of KTM 1290 were leaked out in July itself. So, basically almost everyone has an idea of how the bike would look. It was later reported that the designs were leaked by Kiska Design agency, the designing company that works with KTM during a pre-launch preview. Not much of a difference is observed between the final product and the concept shown at the 2012 EICMA Motor Show, except for the exhaust and the headlamps. It will be equipped with a 1290 cc liquid-cooled V-Twin, 8-valve, ride-by-wire powertrain which would belt out around 180 bhp of maximum power. Along with, RC8R, which is currently being showcased at KTM showrooms, is equipped with the same engine as well. It will have additional features like Anti-lock Braking System and traction control that can be deactivated. It comes with a chrome-molybdenum steel tubular frame and light-alloy single-sided swingarm and light-alloy wheels with slicks. Suspension components include WP prototypes – upside-down fork with gas pressure cartridge and directly connected shock absorber. KTM Sport motorcycle happens to be an Austrian motorcycle, bicycle and moped manufacturer. The firm was founded in 1934 by an engineer named Hans Trunkenpolz in Mattighofen, Austria and started out as a metal working shop. Later on, in 1954, KTM started producing motorcycles. It was mostly famous for its off road bikes, however, in the recent past it has also started coming up with street motorbike production. In 2008, KTM and Bajaj started off with a joint venture and came out with Duke 200 and Duke 390. Duke 390, that was recently launched, has been receiving positive response from the customers. However, the domestic buyers will have to probably wait for some more time before KTM 1290 gets a place in the local showrooms. It is speculated that the Super Duke R would be priced somewhere around Rs. 10 lakh. |
